Curiosity got the best of me.

When I was a teenager I was lucky enough to find a brick of melt-n-pour soap in my Mom’s craft closet. I had fun melting it down and adding beads or pouring it into molds. The real joy from that experience was making something useful. I have always been curious about the soap making process. REAL soap. You know the kind with the scary Lye (sodium hydroxide)? Years came and went. Then finally, as I opened up a box of odds and ends, I found a homemade bar of soap that an aunt had given to me a few years prior. Why hadn’t i used this already? She gave this bar for me to use.

It was because homemade soap was so precious, yet, mysterious to me. Eventually my desire for knowledge overcame my fear of handling lye and I got to work.

Let’s do this!!

I've always considered myself a hardworking do-it-yourselfer. I would research hours on-top of hours before starting any project. Soap making was no different. I started my research early Spring of 2017. Even to the point where my family eventually started calling me “SoapNerd”.

(Hence the name of one of our Collections)

When I planted my garden that spring my husband even asked, “what plants are you growing to add exfoliation to your soap?” (insert eyeroll here).

After my extensive research, I gathered the materials and dove in. Within 24 hours I cut up my first bars of soap... It worked?! What a reward!

After working on recipes, making sure I had the process down and receiving enough positive feedback from family and friends. I opened shop. Mietchen Manor Soaps LLC. was started in September 2017. My husband and I were both in school. We had 2 young daughters, ages 2 & 3. We actively served in our community. Why not start a business?!

“I hit the ground running and have been so blessed in doing so. I enjoy what I do and I hope you enjoy how your skin feels after using my products.”

No more cracked fingers and heels! This soap is all natural, and is mild and gentle enough for those of us with sensitive skin, and for my little grandchildren. The soaps look nice, feel nice, and are nice for the environment as well.
